History
During a 1993 holiday to Italy, the Brown family visited the quaint coastal village of Portofino. Upon their return, they brought back with them a vision of what they wanted to do with this parcel of land.
Their vision was to create the finest golf and boat community in the Midwest, with a subtle Mediterranean theme. Porto Cima — roughly translated "Hillside by the Harbor" — was born.
Although the property was very primitive, development began and utilities were soon brought in. A relationship with Jack Nicklaus began and the construction of Missouri's only 18-hole waterfront Jack Nicklaus signature golf course commenced.
On May 1, 1998, the Lake of the Ozarks Community Bridge became a reality, facilitating easy access to the area and Shawnee Bend exploded into a real estate Mecca.
The Club at Porto Cima offers single-family residential lots, custom homes and custom townhome products. Membership to The Club at Porto Cima offers the 17,000 square foot clubhouse with private dining, yacht club, his and her locker rooms, fully-staffed golf shop, meeting/banquet room and the fellowship of the finest private country club at the Lake.
The golf course features five sets of tees, generous landing areas and seven holes that play beside or over the Lake. It's a wonderful experience for all levels of players and recently, Golf Digest recognized The Club at Porto Cima as the one of the best private golf courses in America.

To be deemed "Signature" status, the architect of a course has to be involved on both the drafting-table and the terra firma end — and every point in between.We're proud and pleased to tell you that Mr. Nicklaus was involved in every phase of our development. He did not phone in the plans. He was "boots on the ground" as the course was shaped. He's played it — and recommends that you should too!
The Recognition
The Club at Porto Cima, rated #4 by Golf Digest for "Best New Private Courses" for 2001, has been rated in the top 10 courses in the state of Missouri since its opening in 2000.
The Upgrade
Porto Cima upgraded their management and officially became a Troon property.
